The 23rd annual Ho-Chunk All Nations Softball Co-ed
Tournament was held on Sept. 3-4 at the Sand Pillow Ball Fields behind the
Ho-Chunk Gaming – Black River Falls casino. A total of eight teams registered for the
championship title. There was also a Home
Run Derby in memory of Zach Thundercloud.
The teams played were Bad News Bears, Meskwaki Nation, Josh
Webster Memorial, Kilo Delta LCC/Rampage, TNT Logging, Warstic, and the Erma
& Billy/Bay Bank. One team did not
show up.
The All Nations Softball Co-Ed Tournament champions were the
Josh Webster Memorial team out of Oneida, Wisc.
The team played in memory of their brother, son, and friend Josh and
this year marked 21 years the family has played in this softball tournament.
Event organizer Andi Jo Cloud said, “I have to thank my
crew, Greg Blackdeer and the umps; Roy Littlegeorge and the grounds crew; Lisa
Flick and Jovanna WhiteEagle, our scorekeepers; my baby sister India Thundercloud
for doing concessions; and Devin Funmaker for helping order and transport food
to the fields and setting up the concession stand. Thank you for all the help, I couldn’t have
done it without you!”
The Ho-Chunk Nation, Whitetail Crossing, Ho-Chunk Gaming –
Black River Falls Hotel, Ho-Chunk Gaming – Black River Falls Advertising, Co-Op
Credit Union, Bay Bank, First Nations Community Financial, Kilo-Delta LLC,
Reinhart Foods Courtesy of Tribal Aging Unit – Black River Falls, and
individuals sponsored the festivities.
