Farm to Families Food Box Program began May 29 thanks in
part to the Farm to Families Program, the Hunger Task Force, and the Ho-Chunk
Nation. The Ho-Chunk Nation Community
Health Team organized Nation workers and volunteers distributing foods to
families.
A limited number of boxes filled with fresh and nutritious
foods are available to Ho-Chunk Nation families in need during the COVID-19
pandemic. The program is based on a
first-come, first-served basis.
Pick up locations include Black River Falls, Tomah,
Wisconsin Dells, Wittenberg, Green Bay, La Crosse, Madison, Nekoosa, Milwaukee,
Chicago, and Minneapolis.
Social distancing is mandatory at all locations. Employees and volunteers request participants
to remain in their vehicles and avoid direct contact. Workers encourage pick-up participants to
wear face masks when staying in a car isn’t practical.
Pick up begins every Friday at 10:00 AM at most locations,
and the organizers hope this continues through June of 2020.
