HHCDA currently offering Rental Assistance, Mortgage Assistance, and Elder Utility Assistance

By Ardith Van Riper

In response to those families economically impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ho-Chunk Housing and Community Development Agency (HHCDA) offers grant assistance programs.

The CARES Act funded an earlier grant assistance program.

The Federal HUD funds the most recent assistance program, and there are some eligibility requirements that HHCDA must follow.  Policy guidelines can be found at www.hhcda.com.

These most recent grant programs include Rental Assistance up to $1,400.00, Mortgage Assistance up to $2,100.00, and Elder Utility Grants up to $350.00.  At this time, the Rental Assistance and the Mortgage Assistance are for new applicants only.

New applicants only mean that if applicants received assistance with rental or mortgage from HHCDA in the past few months through a CARES Act grant program, they are not eligible.

However, Elders are eligible for utility assistance even if they have received utility assistance in the past few months.

Dawn Wessels is HHCDA’s Covid-19 Program Coordinator and can answer questions or receive applications.  She can be reached at 800-236-2260, extension 8824, or receive an email at Dawn.Wessels@ho-chunk.com

Completed applications and required documents are to be returned to HHCDA by email, faxed to 608-374-1251 or 608-374-1270, mailed to P.O. Box 730 Tomah, WI 54660, or delivered through HCN courier delivery.

There is an online fillable application at https://ho-chunk.jotform.com/202867919720060.
