Summer brings new ideas

On one very hot, sunny day Woodrow White and two summer youth workers, Miguel Custudio and Daniel Hernandez-White, were found to be working on a new project at the tribal office building.
The project that they are working on will be a walk through garden for people to come to and enjoy some creative scenery.
The project started in the spring this year, and should be finished and filled with life by next summer.
“We decided to start this project because the old planting garden was getting low maintenance, and plants were shriveling up and dying” said White. “We want to create something beautiful for everyone to enjoy and use, and turn the garden into more of a landscape.”
The garden will be created into an English garden. English gardens were originally designed to be pleasant to those passing on foot. The garden will consist of many different flower boxes that consist of perennials, and annuals. There will be walkways around the garden, a gazebo in the center, a variety of shrubs and trees, and ciiporoke’s to give it Ho-Chunk culture.
For the next three weeks, the youth workers will be working on the garden until they have to return to school.
“I enjoy working for Woody, and on the garden” said Hernandez-White. “I hope that the hard work pays off in the end and the garden looks great!”
“The garden should turn out being a great place of nature,” said Custudio. “I think it will be a cool place for the employees to come and chill out.”
