By Tris Harris

On December 7th 2017, Ho-Chunk Gaming Black River Falls presented Burger King Franchise owner Mike DeRosa and members of the Black River Falls VFW Post 1959 a check for $3000 to go towards the VFW Unmet Needs Program.
This is the ninth year that Ho-Chunk Gaming Black River Falls has supported the Unmet Needs Program which provides immediate financial help to the local families of deployed military service members of up to $5000.  Since the inception of this program, over $8 Million dollars has been raised and that has helped over 6000 military families with car payments, electric bills, vehicle repairs, home repairs, but most of their funds go towards rent and mortgage payments.
10 years ago, Mike DeRosa, who owns 12 Burger King Locations in Wisconsin, saw an opportunity to raise funds for the VFW Unmet Needs program, he teamed up with WWIS 99.7 and WEAU Channel 13 to get the word out.  Since then, Wisconsin Burger King Locations have raised over $4 Million dollars and Ho-Chunk Gaming Black River Falls is proud to be a partner with their fundraising venture.  Please stop in to your local Burger King and make a donation, there are over 1000 locations around the United States that support the VFW Unmet Needs program.
This program gives our American soldiers a little piece of mind that their families back home are getting the help they need.  To learn more about this program, to donate online, or if you are in need of help paying your bills while your spouse is deployed, go to http://www.vfw.org/UnmetNeeds/  for all the information you need.
