The Ho-Chunk Youth Marathon Runners Against Drunk Driving, organized in 1999, get Ho-Chunk youth focused on a positive lifestyle. They are led by Coach Erwin Begay and Assistant Coach Lani Blackdeer. The youth complete a 14 week marathon training regiment, graduate after completing a 20 mile run, in preparation for finishing the Honolulu Mararthon.

The Mitchell Red Could Detachment of the Marine  Corps League held its first Marine Corps Ball, one of the group's main objectives when they were forming.  The Marine Corps Ball is held to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday, November 10th, 1775.
