Heena Development is working with the Ho-Chunk Nation and
HHCDA (Ho-Chunk Housing and Community Development Agency) on an affordable
housing multifamily project.
The Ho-Chunk Nation successfully submitted an application in
WHEDA’s competitive tax credit process, but an award is not guaranteed yet.
The total costs continue to be a moving target. If awarded,
there will be a better grasp on the total cost of the financial program of the
project, infrastructure, construction, and financing costs.
The project consists of a 40 unit, low income apartment
complex located in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
The apartment complex will feature a large sustainability
component to enterprise green community standards including solar panels, storm
water management, high efficiency appliance packages, and electric vehicle
charging stations.
“We have a lot of work to do. I will be working with the
Nation’s departments to collaborate and ensure we’re prepared along with bringing
all of the necessary resources to the project,” said Collin Price, Principal of
Heena Development.
“We’re very excited for this opportunity that helps address
the ongoing housing needs of our communities. This does not solve the Nation’s
housing crisis, but it is one piece of the puzzle that helps mitigate the
crisis and provides families with safe, new, and affordable housing.”
If awarded, the project is estimated to break ground in 2024
to 2025.
