Students earn their clubs for the year at Thundercloud Golf Academy

By Quentin Thundercloud

The Thundercloud Youth Golf Academy once again had a very successful season. The purpose of the academy is to give education to those youth that are interested in golf.
Our program begins with an applications for the youth. In the application are questions that bring out their desire to show their accomplishments, educational goals, and family support.
With these thoughts in mind, we select the students based upon their interview and applications.  The family is also a key to selection of the students. When the parents support the activities of the child or children, we have success.
A date for the instructions to begin, time, and place is agreed upon and then we are ready to begin. The first activity is the swing. The swing is the most important instructional activity in golf. This also helps in preparation to selecting their custom fit golf clubs.
One of our return students this year, Ray Goodbear was a graduate from the academy in 2014. Anyone who has graduated from the academy may come anytime and continue to learn and sharpen their skills at no costs.  Milanni and Maliya Khlap are students for this year. Melissa is their mother and she is very supportive of her children.
The agreed location was at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids, which was half way to travel for both of us.
Classes began the end of June and were completed the middle of August. The students completed the requirements of the program to graduate. Graduation was held on August 10 at the Ridges Golf club.
I want thank all those person who help support this most important youth program this year.  The fundraising is an essential part of our program and we thank everyone who contributed this year.  We look forward to next year.
