Gaming Commission commissioners sworn in to serve Ho-Chunk Nation

By Kaili Berg

The Ho-Chunk Nation Gaming Commission welcomed one returning commissioner and one new commissioner during a swearing-in ceremony held at the Tribal Office Building in Black River Falls on July 1.

Commissioner Toni Blackdeer was sworn in to continue her service on the Gaming Commission, while Commissioner James Dakota took the oath of office as the commission's newest member.

The ceremony featured opening remarks from Gaming Commissioner Greg Garvin before the oath of office was administered by Ho-Chunk Nation Judge Huling. An honor song followed to recognize the commissioners as they began their terms of service.

The Gaming Commission serves an important role within the Ho-Chunk Nation by providing oversight of the Nation's gaming operations, helping ensure compliance with tribal, federal and regulatory requirements while maintaining the integrity of tribal gaming.
