Ho-Chunk Nation representatives and community members
recently joined together in Black River Falls for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s
on Saturday, October 3.
The Ho-Chunk Nation sponsored the local walk which helps
raise awareness and support for people affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
Representative Phyllis Smoke attended alongside other tribal members.
Participants also took part in the event’s Promise Garden,
where different colored flowers represented each person’s connection to
Alzheimer’s. Purple flowers honored someone who died from the disease, yellow
represented caregivers, blue represented those living with Alzheimer’s, orange
showed support for the cause and white represented hope for the first survivor
of Alzheimer’s.
