The 2026 Veterans Powwow has moved from Volk Field in Camp Douglas to the House of Wellness Center, S2845 White Eagle Road in Baraboo. The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 14, beginning at 11 a.m.

     Unlike the earlier plans for Volk Field, attendees do not need to register in advance. Admission is free, and the powwow is open to the public.

     Sponsored by Descendants of Red Arrow, or D.O.R.A., and Friends, the powwow honors all veterans, with special recognition for the 25 Ho-Chunk men who served in World War I and the 128th Infantry Company D of the 32nd “Red Arrow Division.”

     The program will begin with a flag raising, 21-gun salute, taps and posting of the colors. Organizers will recognize the Ho-Chunk World War I veterans and place veterans’ flags.

     Lunch is scheduled for noon, followed by an address from Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary James Bond at 1 p.m. Grand entry and dancing will follow.

     Thundercloud Singers will serve as host drum. The afternoon will also include veteran songs, traditional giveaways and auctions.

     Anyone who would like to share a family veterans song is welcome to do so. Organizers are also seeking women to help with food, tribal members to volunteer and donations for the auctions.
