At the July 2 swearing-in ceremony, the Ho-Chunk Nation
Legislature honored the life and legacy of Matthew “Matt” Mullen with an
official Legislative Recognition Citation.
The citation was signed by President Jon Greendeer and Vice
President Lambert Cleveland Jr., and presented to Matt’s family just before the
new legislative body's first legislative meeting. His wife, children, and
mother were there to accept the framed recognition in his honor, alongside his
brother Ed — who now serves as a Representative for District 4.
Matt was a former Legislator and committed public servant
whose work helped shape the future of the Ho-Chunk Nation. He played a leading
role in efforts to strengthen self-governance and was active in constitutional
reform throughout his career.
May his memory be a blessing and an inspiration to future
generations of the Ho-Chunk Nation.
